Eagle Project Bike Racks
October 2016
To reach the rank of Eagle Scout, a scout must lead a service project that benefits the community. For my project, I designed and raised the funds to build two commemorative bike racks for the Clovis Veterans Memorial District.
The entire project took about a year. I spent several months coming up with a design for bike racks. I wanted something that matched the building's modern architecture while still paying homage to military veterans.
I wanted my bike racks to match the modern style of the building.
Design
The design has 6 columns to represent all branches of the military. The top 3 horizontal bars have custom cast iron plaques that read: Duty, Honor, Country for rack 1, and Courage, Sacrifice, Freedom for rack 2. The frame is constructed of 2 inch square tubing to match the window trim design and powder coated black to match in color.
This was the first SolidWorks model I ever made.
