Trim Cap Machine - Senior Capstone Design

My team and I worked with the largest sign manufacturing company in Central California to develop a proof of concept machine to help automate the channel letter sign manufacturing process.

Baja SAE is a colligate competition were students design and build a single person off-road vehicle. This club taught me a lot about design through hands on fabrication. I was a member of my school's team all four years of college, and served two years as the drivetrain lead.

The purpose of this project was to create a proof of concept for a tool storage system for our school's shop to prevent tools from being misplaced or stolen. The entire system was controlled with an Arduino Mega microcontroller board.

This is the project that inspired me to become a mechanical engineer. I designed and fabricated the deck and motor mount from stock materials, learned the basics of drivetrains and gear ratios, and was exposed to circuitry and soldering.

I built this gym in my backyard in the early months of the quarantine.

This project introduced me to the beauty of machining and flying chips, but also gave me a fundamental understanding of designing for machinability. I machined this two part assembly on a manual mill and lathe. All final product dimensions were within +/- 0.005" of the given drawing dimensions.

For my eagle project, I designed and led a team to fabricate two commemorative bike racks for the Clovis Veterans Memorial District.

The purpose of this project was to build a proof of concept for a water filtration system for an amusement park.
